Philip 3:7-8
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yeah doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Inspiration
All who live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. All who put Christ first in their heart and life will lose something for so doing. Paul was willing to suffer the loss of everything else for the sake of knowing Jesus Christ better. This was more than to simply know about Christ; it was to be in close communion with Him and to learn by experience what it means to follow Him in a world hostile to God.

Prayer
Lord God, I need to love you above all and put following and fellowshipping with you above the pursuit of my own happiness. The world may be content to be “lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:4), but no child of God can be inwardly content while his priorities are disarranged. Help me to reorder them according to your will, Lord. Amen.
